Donovan Adcock has almost 20 years experience working on the land in various roles from bush regeneration and native revegetation to permaculture design and implementation to the integration of regenerative agriculture.
Growing up on his family’s farm perched on a knoll between the ocean and the magnificent Budawangs National Park on the south coast of NSW, he spent his youth equally between chasing cows and wandering the bush tracks behind the property. The idea of agricultural and food production techniques that support and restore the natural world, rather than devastate it, took seed from a young age.
His early training and experience of many years as a bush regenerator gave him a deep connection and understanding of a huge variety of Australian native species and ecosystems from Northern NSW down to the South Coast regions of NSW.
After a brief stint in the Tasmanian wild, he returned to the lush growing environment of the Northern Rivers to complete his Cert IV in Permaculture. From here his previous business, Food & Forest Designs was born. Donovan spent the next 8 years designing native and edible plantings for small to large-scale properties using Permaculture Design Principles. In this time he’s planted tens of thousands of native trees as well as orchards, food forests, native gardens and veggie gardens to suit client needs and their context.
Yet all this time, the cows have continued to call.
In 2013, after seeing Allan Savory talk, he completed a Holistic Management certificate and in 2014 undertook a 10 day on farm intensive in Advanced Regenerative Agriculture Design with Darren Doherty. Since then, he has re-branded as Living Land Design incorporating the principles of Holistic Land Management and Regenerative Agriculture and realising his long held dream of working to create productive agricultural ecosystems that regenerate our vital eco system processes.
His combination of native plant knowledge, understanding of natural ecosystems, passion for sustainable food production and awareness of the importance of ‘good design practice’ and getting clear on the context of the client, enables Donovan to create and deliver landscapes that connect clients to the land, generate abundance and restore our natural world.
